A Ledger hardware wallet bought several weeks ago from an official European reseller was found to contain an unauthorized spy implant, according to user @0xJohannes. According to Foresight News, the device showed suspicious internal wiring not present in genuine Ledger hardware, suggesting it may have been physically tampered with before sale.

The implant is believed to be an older version, while newer versions typically hide components behind the screen. Funds stored in the affected device have not been stolen. Similar cases have reportedly been seen in Asia, South America, and Europe. Ledger's Genuine Check software cannot detect unauthorized physical modifications if the original security element remains intact.
