【Fixing a vulnerability means defusing a bomb, not tearing down the house】

The XRP Ledger just patched a vulnerability that could let someone create money out of thin air.

The story has been covered to death by media outlets over the past 48 hours, but I’ve seen a lot of takes that miss the point. What was this vulnerability, at its core? You could initiate a payment, make XRP appear out of nowhere, and then spend it—without actually paying anything. For ten years, nobody noticed—or at least nobody disclosed it. What would happen if someone really exploited it on a large scale?

It would collapse.

Not the price—the foundation of trust in the entire ecosystem. XRP’s value is anchored in cross-border payments, and institutions use your network because transactions are traceable and the supply is capped. If you can create coins out of thin air, who would still trust it?

So, in my view, this fix isn’t bearish. If anything, it’s bullish—it defused a landmine buried under the bed. For Ripple, and for institutions seriously building around XRP, this is a good thing.

But the question is: can this push the price up?

It can lift sentiment, but not the price.

XRP is hovering around $1.40 right now, down 0.5% over 24 hours and 6.8% over seven days. Trading is sluggish, and everyone’s waiting for a direction. FNG is at 61: the market is greedy, but not exactly euphoric. At levels like this, without a new story, the price will move sideways; with one, it might pick a direction.

I saw something similar in 2021—a coin released a security patch fixing a major vulnerability, and the community cheered, but the price kept falling. Why? Fixing it was simply the right thing to do. The market doesn’t reward you just for doing the right thing. Only news that exceeds expectations can change the direction.

So XRP is in a “no bad news is a win” kind of situation right now. Holding a half position, calling it conviction in its value, when really you just can’t bring yourself to cut your losses. You talk like you’re more clear-eyed than anyone, but your actions tell the truth.

What’s your mindset right now? Are you still in? Do you think this move is heading up or down?
