Key takeaways

  • Ether ETFs post $542.1 million in net outflows, marking nine consecutive trading sessions of withdrawals.

  • Solana funds saw $24.8 million in outflows, their biggest weekly withdrawal since launching in late October 2025.

  • Bitcoin ETFs shed $681.1 million, bringing combined outflows across the three segments to around $1.25 billion.

Bloodbath for Ethereum ETFs

Ether-focused funds saw net outflows of $542.1 million over the five sessions ended October 9, according to an analysis of SoSoValue data published Saturday. This was their biggest weekly loss since the week ended January 23, when they saw $611.2 million in outflows, and their second consecutive week in the red. The losing streak has now stretched to nine consecutive trading sessions, with total outflows of $697.2 million.

BlackRock’s ETHA, the market’s largest Ether ETF, accounted for most of the movement, with $477 million in outflows—nearly 88% of the category’s total—in its worst week since mid-December. The fund saw outflows in each of the five sessions, including $201.9 million on Tuesday, and investors withdrew a further $160.9 million from Ether ETFs on Wednesday.

Solana funds, meanwhile, shed $24.8 million, with outflows in each of the five sessions—about three times their previous weekly record of $8.9 million. Bitwise’s BSOL, the largest Solana-listed vehicle, accounted for $20.9 million of those outflows. Spot Bitcoin (BTC) ETFs saw $681.1 million in outflows, ending three consecutive weeks of inflows and bringing combined outflows across the three segments (Ether, Solana and Bitcoin) to around $1.25 billion.

BlackRock’s ETHA split

Tuesday’s wave of redemptions coincided with the 1-for-3 reverse split of ETHA taking effect. BlackRock gave no specific reason for the move in its documentation, but Bloomberg senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas said in August that it would reduce transaction costs from around 7 basis points to about 2.

The reverse split combines three shares into one, increasing the per-share price without changing the total value held by each investor. The flows do not reveal sellers’ motivations. With $8.64 billion in net assets, ETHA alone weighs heavily on the category’s direction, and total assets under management in Ether ETFs fell 10% over the week to $15.71 billion.

Year-to-date cumulative net inflows have fallen to $931.8 million, from $1.47 billion a week earlier. Ether was down around 7% for the week on Friday afternoon, a day after a broad sell-off triggered the liquidation of $1.19 billion in leveraged positions and sent Bitcoin tumbling toward $80,400.

Solana’s winning streak comes to an end

Solana-listed products launched in late October 2025 and began trading with a streak of 13 consecutive weeks of inflows, which ended in late January. Their latest bullish cycle began after a modest $1.8 million outflow in the week ended June 26 and peaked two weeks ago with a record $188.2 million in weekly inflows. Solana funds now have $1.73 billion in assets under management, down from a record high of $1.96 billion recorded on September 25.
