【ZEC is down 60% and nobody’s selling—does that make sense?】
Honestly, have you noticed something? ZEC is down about 61% from its high, but hardly anyone in crypto is trashing it. If this were any other coin, people would’ve called it a scam project by now.
Why? Because ZEC holders are already numb to it.
I checked the numbers: it’s up just 0.3% in 24 hours, down 7.3% over 7 days, and trading volume is so low it feels like the market’s asleep. The Fear and Greed Index is at 61, still in greed territory, but it’s slipped a bit from last week’s 66.
What do you call this kind of market? I call it “a slow bleed into stagnation.” No huge rallies or crashes—just a slow, painful grind. Those stuck holding are too lazy to move, and dip-buyers don’t think it’s cheap enough yet. The whole market is waiting for a reason to give it a kick up or down.
But here’s the question: have ZEC’s fundamentals changed?
That’s what I really want to talk about. The privacy coin space is nothing like it was back in 2016. Bitcoin has Taproot, Ethereum has a growing range of privacy solutions, and there are countless newer chains building privacy features. ZEC is a veteran privacy coin and still has solid tech, but how much of its moat is left? I honestly don’t know.
And have you noticed? Ledger just had a hardware vulnerability issue. It’s not directly related to ZEC, but things like that undermine trust in the entire crypto ecosystem.
So here’s my take: at this price, you could say it’s undervalued, since it’s more than 50% off its ATH. But undervalued doesn’t mean it’ll go up—you still need to see whether any money is willing to come in and trade it.
What’s my mindset right now? I’m definitely tempted to jump in, but this time I haven’t. It’s not that I’m bearish—I just don’t think this is a moment where I absolutely have to buy.
What about you? If you’re holding ZEC, what’s your mindset—are you holding on no matter what, or planning to sell on a bounce? Let’s talk in the comments.
