Knowledge Notes | Data Availability
① Data availability sampling (DAS) lets nodes randomly download a small portion of block data. If repeated sampling succeeds, they can confirm with extremely high confidence that all the data has been published.
② If a block producer publishes only the block header but withholds some transaction data, others cannot check whether the result is valid.
③ When comparing Layer 2 solutions, pay attention to where transaction data is published: Ethereum, a separate data availability network, or an off-chain committee. Each has different security assumptions.
