I usually answer like this: On Ethereum, failed transactions are still included in blocks. Their status is shown as failed, and the Gas already spent is usually not refunded. Screenshots and chat logs can both be forged, but the data on a block explorer comes from the blockchain itself. To verify whether a transfer really happened, trust the on-chain records.
