🧊 Sunday Night Sentiment Watch: Panic Is Spreading, but Whales Are Quietly Accumulating

Tonight’s most gut-wrenching data comes from Polymarket: the odds of BTC falling below $70,000 this year are now higher than the odds of it returning to $100,000. Prediction markets vote with real money—and that’s the most honest reflection of sentiment right now.

But markets are always divided:

🐋 Buying against the trend: One whale withdrew 26,000 $ZEC from Binance and Kraken within minutes, worth around $31.93 million. There’s always someone ready to scoop up the coins panic sellers let go.

⛽ Geopolitical tensions: At least 15 tanker attacks have taken place in the Strait of Hormuz since late September. The U.S. naval blockade of Iran continues to intensify, and tensions are still escalating after an attack on a Saudi airport. Risk assets are under pressure across the board.

🧐 Lessons from past scars: OKX founder Star Xu publicly questioned whether $USDe is essentially a “tokenized hedge fund,” pointing directly to leveraged circular arbitrage as a driver of the last cycle’s liquidation crash. It hasn’t been long since we learned the hard way about borrowing coins at the top and layering on leverage in a loop.

Fear and greed have always been two sides of the same coin. The people who sold at a loss last week and those buying the dip this week are often one and the same.
