Why do so many people talk about the “four-year cycle” in the crypto market?
A “cycle” is a summary of past price movements, not a rule written into the protocol. With limited data and a constantly changing environment, past patterns don’t necessarily mean they’ll repeat in the future.
During uptrends, small-cap tokens often rise and fall more sharply than Bitcoin; during downtrends, small-cap tokens usually suffer deeper drawdowns as well.
When I first got into crypto, I thought all I needed was to understand candlestick charts. Later, I realized that learning the rules is the real introductory lesson.
Take the time to understand the principles before getting started, and don’t make decisions on impulse.
