$NEAR This +1.03% daily gain doesn’t tell us much; what really matters is that it hasn’t fallen. It’s up 114% over 30 days and still up 9.7% over 7 days. Given that slope, the fact that the price is holding above 5.2 suggests selling pressure isn’t as heavy as it might seem. On October 9, a wick plunged to 4.46 on volume of 1.5 billion, then the price was pulled back near 5.3 within two days. Buyers stepping in during a high-volume selloff matters far more than a small green candle.

I don’t want to look at price alone. During the breakout at the end of September, daily volume was generally 1.3–1.5 billion; now it’s down to just 660 million. It’s holding above 5 on less than half the fuel. Is this a continuation before another leg up, or is momentum fading? For now, volume doesn’t give us an answer. Ranked #20 by market cap, with a valuation of 6.9B and still 74% below its ATH, there isn’t a dense overhang of bagholders above, leaving room for the narrative to run—but also giving holders a reason to take profits at any time.

What I care more about is this: if it breaks below the 4.5–4.7 retest zone on rising volume, low-volume consolidation will turn from a breather into distribution. On the other hand, only a return to volume above 1 billion, while holding 5.4, would confirm the next leg.

What do you think is the most likely factor to overturn the “low-volume consolidation” thesis—the broader market direction, the pace of token unlocks, or capital rotation into and out of the AI sector? $NEAR
