A few things to keep in mind about on-chain transfers:
1) While a transaction is still queued in the mempool, some wallets offer a “cancel” feature. This works by broadcasting a replacement transaction with a higher fee, but it may not succeed.
2) Wallet software only checks whether an address is correctly formatted; it can’t tell whether it belongs to the intended recipient. A transfer to the wrong person’s address can still go through.
3) Before sending funds to a new address for the first time, send a small test amount. Once it arrives, send the rest. Paying an extra transaction fee is worth the peace of mind.
