$XRP The XRP Ledger patches a vulnerability that existed for over 10 years and could create XRP out of thin air
The XRP Ledger has announced that it patched a vulnerability believed to have existed since 2015, which could have allowed an attacker to create new XRP at virtually no cost. This would have gone against the network’s principle of a fixed supply of 100 billion XRP.
The vulnerability was discovered by researcher Cayden Liao and Veria AI, reported internally on September 22, and patched on September 25 in xrpld version 3.4.1. RippleX said there is no evidence that the vulnerability was ever exploited on public networks.
