When I saw this news, the first thing I did was dig out my own cold wallet and check my purchase records.

Ledger is investigating a crypto theft involving CryptoBilis, an authorized reseller in Southeast Asia. It has requested a halt to shipments and confirmed that at least one victim’s device contained an unauthorized hardware implant.

Unverified / reported: On-chain analysts estimate losses of more than $86 million (estimates range from $72 million to $93 million). Ledger has not confirmed the total amount, nor has it said that the implant caused all the losses.

Bought from CryptoBilis in the past 90 days? If you haven’t activated it, don’t. If you’re already using it, the official recommendation is to switch to a new device and transfer your assets using a brand-new recovery phrase. Never use a device that comes with a pre-written recovery phrase.

Would you keep using a hardware wallet, or spread your assets across different forms of storage?
