$ETH Broke above 2,500 USDT, up about 8% in 24 hours—short sellers were liquidated.

Ethereum has finally caught up.

【What happened】
On 10/9, ETH surged above the key $2,500 level and is now trading at around $2,518, up about 8%–9% in 24 hours and at its highest level since mid-April. It has gained about 25% this week.

【Why the sudden rally】
• Short squeeze: $1.486 billion in liquidations across the market over the past 24 hours, including $1.196 billion in short liquidations (over 80%). Forced short covering pushed prices higher;
• Tighter supply: The staking rate is above 34%, with nearly 1.5 million ETH waiting to be staked (an average wait of about 25 days), locking up available supply;
• Buying support: Dip buyers stepped in below $2,500, and the number of addresses held by large investors (1,000–10,000 ETH) has rebounded from its June low.

【My take】The breakout is real, but don't rush to chase it.
• Bullish signs: ETH has reclaimed the 2,300, 2,400, and 2,500 levels in one go. The daily moving averages are aligned bullishly, and the chart structure is strengthening;
• Risks: ETH spot ETFs are still seeing consecutive net outflows. ETH has only just moved above $2,500, and needs to hold there for confirmation;
• The bigger picture: This looks more like a “short squeeze + catch-up rally.” Whether a trend develops depends on holding above 2,480 and breaking through 2,566 with increased volume.

Trading plan: Lean bullish, but manage your pace.
→ If ETH holds above 2,524, look toward 2,566, then 2,600+;
→ If it falls back below 2,480, the breakout has failed—exit for now.
