【I stared at this trading volume and suddenly understood what “not moving” really means】

Let me tell you, I’ve been exhausted from watching the charts lately—not because the market’s been volatile, but because there’s literally been no movement.

BTC is stuck at 82,948, up 0.5% over 24 hours and down 2.2% over seven days. So, up or down? It’s like asking whether you’ve had lunch and getting the vague answer, “I had half a steamed bun.”

But what really caught my attention was the trading volume. Pathetic. Not just a little sluggish—it’s the kind of sluggish where you can shout at it and it still won’t respond.

Here’s a piece of news I saw: one year after the 2024 flash crash, liquidity in BTC and ETH has recovered, but liquidity in altcoins continues to deteriorate. Those words “continues to deteriorate” tell you more than the price itself.

Have you noticed? Bitcoin and Ethereum have recovered, but nobody cares about the smaller coins. Shallow order books, wide bid-ask spreads, and you can’t buy when you want to or sell when you need to—that’s not a technical problem. It’s about where the money’s willing to go.

And the money’s attitude is clear: I’m only staying where I feel most certain. Bitcoin is a sure thing, Ethereum is just about acceptable, and smaller coins? I don’t care what your story is—if your liquidity sucks, I’m not coming in.

What does that mean in practice? If you’re still holding small-cap coins, your exit costs are going up. You think you’re holding an asset, but in reality, you’re stuck with the awkward problem of having “no counterparty to trade with.” Meanwhile, the fact that a Bitcoin life insurance company can secure funding tells us what? That the real big money is looking for “a safe, compliant way into Bitcoin,” not “the next meme coin that’ll 10x.”

That’s the market right now: big money is waiting, small money is hanging on. Nobody’s moving, but not all inaction is the same—big money isn’t moving because there aren’t any good enough opportunities; small money isn’t moving because it’s underwater and can’t get out.

So here’s my question: when will this low-volume stalemate finally break? Will it take external news, or will the money rotate from within the market?

What’s your mindset these days? Still glued to the charts, or have you gone full zen?
