The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced that it has sued William Sarris and Joseph Endoso, two former executives of Linqto, a private-company investment platform headquartered in San Jose, California. The SEC alleges that they misled and defrauded thousands of retail investors seeking to invest in pre-IPO unicorns. According to the SEC’s complaint, from 2021 to 2024, a Linqto subsidiary sold more than $430 million worth of special purpose vehicles (SPVs) to retail investors. These vehicles held interests in private companies.
