The latest news is that plans to build the Grande Valley data center successfully passed a vote by the Casa Grande Planning and Zoning Commission in Arizona on October 10, with a final vote of 6 to 1. The vast campus site is about 8 miles from the local downtown area and covers approximately 954 acres. According to the plans, the project will include not only data centers but also supporting battery and natural gas power facilities.

The most striking aspect of the project is its cutting-edge energy solution. The plans show that the campus intends to deploy Bloom Energy solid oxide fuel cells on a large scale, commonly known as SOFCs. Specifically, the project plans to install a total of 3,693 modules, providing a massive combined capacity of 1.2 GW.

From a personal investment perspective, BE has long been one of my holdings. The company's fuel cell products have significant advantages in the industry: they are highly environmentally friendly and feature low emissions and low noise. More and more local residents are now opposing the construction of data centers near residential areas precisely because of their environmental and noise impacts. Against this backdrop of public concern, BE's fuel cell solution will undoubtedly be more attractive to data center developers than traditional gas turbines, making it a preferred option for them in the future.
