On October 10, the latest news came in: Casa Grande’s Planning and Zoning Commission in Arizona approved the Grande Valley data center project by a 6–1 vote. The new campus will be located about 8 miles from downtown and cover approximately 954 acres. It will include the data center itself, along with supporting facilities such as battery and natural gas power systems.

Of all the project’s plans, its power supply is the one worth paying closest attention to. The data center plans to use solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) manufactured by Bloom Energy, with a total of 3,693 modules expected to be deployed, providing up to 1.2 GW of battery capacity.

I have long considered BE a long-term holding. The fuel cells it develops offer significant advantages, including environmental friendliness, low noise, and low emissions. As environmental and noise concerns caused by conventional facilities lead residents in more and more places to oppose new data centers, BE’s outstanding products are sure to stand out and become the preferred choice for many data center developers when planning their projects.
