Here we go again: they report a number first, then gradually revise it upward. I’ve seen this playbook too many times.

$XAU is now 4196.18, barely moved in 24h, +0.02%. $CL is at 91.16, +0.20%. The market hasn’t taken any notice at all.

That means this news is currently priced at zero. Those numbers from the Pentagon—21 or 210—matter less to the market than an inventory report. Gold isn’t moving, and neither is oil. That tells me investors think this won’t make waves.

My view is straightforward: if they start revising the casualty figures upward, $XAU will be the first to react, while $CL will react later but more violently. Right now, both are playing dead. It’s the calm before the storm.

It’s always calmest right before the fighting starts… but this calm has been priced in for too long. I don’t buy it.
