The Lightning Network, in a nutshell:
Amounts on the Lightning Network can be divided down to one-thousandth of a satoshi (a millisatoshi), and its technical protocol specifications are called BOLTs.
If one party closes a channel using an outdated balance record, the other party can submit a penalty transaction within a specified time and claim all the funds in the channel, making cheating unprofitable.
When depositing Bitcoin to an exchange, make sure you choose on-chain or Lightning—the two have different payment formats, so don’t mix them up.
