【SOL FOMO is starting to build—but are you really ready?】

Solana just announced that it plans to cut block times to 200 milliseconds, and the news has got the group chat buzzing again. I checked the data—FNG is at 64, in the greed zone. The weekly average is only 66, and we're already closing in on that number.

With this latest Solana upgrade, block times are being cut in half. Technically, it’s impressive: network efficiency doubles. But here’s the question—

What does this actually mean in practice?

Shorter block times put more pressure on validators and drive up costs. This isn’t just a technical upgrade; it’s a complete reshuffle of how the network operates. Validators will have to spend more on upkeep. What happens to gas costs? That’s the first big question mark.

Second: can the ecosystem’s applications keep up? TPS has doubled, but whether anyone can actually make use of it is another matter. Trading volume is sluggish right now, which shows the market isn’t active at all. Pushing an upgrade at a time like this feels more like a declaration of “Look how strong we are” than a response to real demand from the ecosystem.

Back in 2017, when I got burned, I also bought in after hearing all kinds of good news. Sharding, Layer 2—you name it, it all sounded amazing. And what happened? The day the good news came to fruition was the day I got left holding the bag.

SOL is still languishing near the lows, down 62% from its ATH. A low price doesn’t mean it’s safe; it could just mean it hasn’t finished falling. The 106–112 range is so narrow it feels like walking a tightrope, and a decisive move could come at any moment.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t trade it, but you need to be clear with yourself: if it really breaks out, will you chase? If it’s a false breakout, will you get out? If you’re left underwater, can you hold on? If you can’t answer those three questions, just sit back and watch for now.

What’s your mindset right now? Are you brave enough to jump in this time?
