Study Notes | Cold Wallets and Hot Wallets
① Your coins are always recorded on the blockchain; what a wallet actually stores is the private key used to access your assets.
② If you import a hardware wallet’s recovery phrase into a phone or browser extension wallet, the private key is now on an internet-connected device, so that wallet can no longer be considered a cold wallet.
③ Keep long-term assets in a cold wallet, and leave only a small amount of funds—enough for everyday use—in a hot wallet.
