Ethereum ($ETH ): Sepolia testnet boosts block gas limit threefold

On October 6, Ethereum’s Sepolia test network activated the Glamsterdam upgrade, increasing the block gas limit to approximately 200 million units, a substantial rise from its previous setting.

The new limit exceeds three times the mainnet’s current cap of about 60 million, marking a notable expansion of processing capacity on the test chain and allowing larger blocks to be mined for experimental purposes.

This higher ceiling gives developers a broader sandbox to trial extensive transaction loads and more complex smart‑contract interactions, helping to surface performance issues early and informing potential mainnet scaling upgrades. Such testing is critical for assessing the viability of future protocol changes before they are rolled out on the live network.
