The XRP Ledger has patched a vulnerability that could have allowed attackers to create spendable XRP beyond its fixed 100 billion supply. The flaw had reportedly existed since 2015 and was discovered through XRPL’s bug bounty program. RippleX engineers reproduced the issue on a private server, but found no evidence of exploitation on the XRPL Mainnet.
The vulnerability was fixed through an emergency release, xrpld 3.4.1, just three days after it was reported on Sept 22.
