Still have an old phone you haven’t thrown away? Here’s a computing side gig you can try.

Why do I say that?

I’ve recently been looking into the @Acurast creator campaign on XHunt. The prize pool is 200,000 ACU, worth around $20,000 at current prices. Rewards are paid directly in the project’s token, so I think this could be a great opportunity—and I’m in.

The mainnet and TGE launched on January 20 this year.

It connects phones around the world into a decentralized computing network. Developers deploy applications, phones provide computing power, and device owners receive $ACU in incentives according to the rules.

Websites and mini-games created with AI still need somewhere to run. Acurast has launched Vibe Code and Deploy, which lets you generate apps and deploy them to its mobile computing network. I really like the idea of putting dusty old phones to work running apps, and it gives ordinary people a chance to try it out with devices they already have.

If you have an unused device, follow these three steps to get started 👇

① Device requirements: Android phones need Android 12 or later, must not be rooted, and must have a locked bootloader. iPhones must be an iPhone 6s or later running iOS 15.6 or later. It seems there have been more phone thefts lately, so be sure to use an idle device that doesn’t have any wallets or crypto assets stored on it.

② Search for Processor Lite in your app store. In the Apple App Store, it’s listed as “Acurast: DePIN Node.” Open Hub, connect your wallet, and follow the prompts to bind your device. Lite doesn’t require a factory reset, so it’s suitable for trying things out first.

③ Make sure the device is connected to the Mainnet, and keep the app running with a stable internet connection and power supply. Check your device status, benchmark score, and ACU reward history in Hub.

Why use an idle device?
Because the app can’t run in the background.

Device performance and uptime both affect your earnings, so try it out for a few days first.
