Conflux, commonly known as Tree-Graph Public Chain, is a Layer 1 blockchain project. It was launched in 2018, and its mainnet went live in 2020. Its core technology originated with the team of Turing Award laureate Professor Yao Qizhi. Its main entity in China is the Shanghai Tree-Graph Blockchain Research Institute, and most of the core team members are from top institutions such as Tsinghua University's Yao Class and MIT.
Its key innovation is the Tree-Graph DAG consensus mechanism, a directed acyclic graph. Unlike the traditional single-chain structures of Bitcoin and Ethereum, it allows multiple blocks to be generated in parallel without discarding forked blocks, thereby increasing the network's transaction throughput. It was later upgraded to a hybrid PoW+PoS consensus mechanism and is also compatible with the EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine), allowing smart contracts and DeFi and NFT projects on Ethereum to migrate to and run on the Conflux network at relatively low cost.
