How is Bitcoin different from Ethereum?
The Ethereum white paper was written by Vitalik Buterin in 2013, and the mainnet launched in July 2015. Ethereum is designed as a platform that can run general-purpose smart contracts. Bitcoin produces a block every 10 minutes on average, while Ethereum schedules blocks in 12-second slots.
“Digital gold” and “world computer” are popular metaphors that summarize the differences in their focus; they do not imply anything about their prices.
$BTC and $ETH are the native coins of Bitcoin and Ethereum, and they serve different purposes. Currently 82793.76.
