【Quantum computers aren’t here yet, but Justin Sun has already changed the lock on his wallet 🔐⚛️】

Quantum computers haven’t even been built, but someone has already changed the lock. Justin Sun posted on Saturday, saying TRON’s post-quantum cryptography is now on the testnet. He said it could be deployed to the mainnet at any time. The official $TRX account reposted it too. No one at the table called time-out—he went ahead and changed the codebook himself. ⚛️

The reason is simple: today’s encryption algorithms are vulnerable to quantum computers. Bitcoin and Ethereum both rely on elliptic curve signatures. If those algorithms are cracked, private keys will no longer be secret. The industry calls that day Q-Day. Bitcoin is still trading at around $83,000. ⚡

The industry isn’t entirely unprepared. A paper published on July 28 specifically addressed the address problem. Its solution requires users neither to move their coins nor to change addresses. A consortium has put up $15 million for quantum security research. The Ethereum Foundation has also drafted a migration proposal. ⚙️

Justin Sun is racing against time. Putting TRON on the testnet first is like writing the answer before everyone else. He’s betting the quantum threat will arrive sooner than people think. In my view, that claim is half true. The risk is real, but Q-Day could still be ten years away. 🕰️

Look at it another way: this is also a race for users’ trust. Whoever is first to say their network is quantum-resistant gets to command a premium. No matter how many transactions happen on-chain, $TRX won’t rise by a single cent. I find that a little surprising. The market cares about cash flow, not buzzwords. 📉

I think the second-layer risk deserves more attention. Post-quantum security is an industry-wide engineering challenge, not something one company can handle alone. Even if one blockchain is upgraded, cross-chain bridges may still be using old algorithms. When that day comes, the weakest link will determine how secure the system is. This is worth watching—don’t rush to declare victory. 🔭

📌 The quantum threat is still far off, but the post-quantum arms race is already underway.

When quantum computers can really crack Bitcoin, will you switch wallets ahead of time?
