$STRK A single line—“considering switching to L1”—and it’s up 36% in 120 hours!
The news itself hasn’t materialized yet, but leverage has already piled in.
First, let’s get the facts straight:
1/ On 10/8, Starknet officially said it was “seriously considering becoming an L1,” with the goal of becoming the first fully quantum-resistant network by 2027.
2/ StarkWare CEO’s reasoning at Token2049: Ethereum’s quantum-resistant roadmap is around 2029, and they can’t afford to wait.
3/ Reports say STRK futures open interest is up more than 50%, while daily DEX trading volume on Starknet is around $33.7 million.
4/ But note: it’s only “under consideration.” It would require a governance vote, technical design, and a whole new set of validators—and there’s no timeline.
Price action (1h, Binance spot):
Low: 0.04797 → high: 0.07769 → current price: 0.07266, up 36.48% over 120 candles.
After spiking to 0.0777, it spent several hours trading sideways between 0.070 and 0.075, with volume clearly lower than during the rally.
My take:
・Key level 1: 0.0777, the previous high. It only counts as a new leg up if price breaks above it on strong volume.
・Key level 2: 0.070, the bottom of the range. A break below it would mean the news-driven gains are being given back.
・Invalidation: If it returns to around 0.060 (the rally’s starting zone), I’ll admit I was wrong—the news hype is over.
Gains built on leverage come fast, and disappear just as fast.
What do you think: Would Starknet moving to L1 give it a first-mover advantage in quantum resistance, or would it undermine its own L2 narrative?
