SOL has sped up, leaving you less time to take things slowly and tap confirm.

Solana says the mainnet completed its final round of adjustments on October 9: the target slot time was reduced from 400 milliseconds to 200 milliseconds.

Another number is easier to miss: the validity window for block hashes used in regular transactions has also shrunk from about 60 seconds to about 30 seconds. Think of it as a short-term pass for a transaction. Once it expires, it needs to be refreshed before you submit it again.

This has a greater impact on operations that need someone to confirm them, such as offline signing and hardware wallets. The specifics also depend on how each wallet handles it.

I think this is the useful part of the upgrade news: beyond making the speed metrics look better, wallets need to keep up so everyday users can have a smooth experience.
