Smart contracts cannot directly access off-chain data, such as asset prices or match results. Oracles write this data to the blockchain.
If an oracle is manipulated, contracts that rely on its prices may settle at the wrong price. That’s why it’s important to have diverse data sources and well-distributed nodes.
When choosing a DeFi protocol, check what price feed solution it uses. The more concentrated the price feed sources, the greater the risk.
