What’s the difference between circulating supply, total supply, and maximum supply?
Maximum supply is the largest number of tokens that can ever exist under the protocol rules. Bitcoin’s maximum supply is 21 million.
Some tokens have no maximum supply. For example, Ethereum has no fixed cap on its total supply.
When managing your funds, the most important thing to keep in mind is this: when comparing the valuations of two coins, first check whether you’re comparing market capitalization or FDV. Different metrics can lead to very different conclusions.
