Traditional finance takes another step toward blockchain!
Brazil’s largest stock exchange, B3, plans to launch a securities tokenization trading platform in the first half of 2027.
This means traditional financial assets such as stocks are being explored for recording and trading using blockchain technology.
A few key points to watch:
👉 Bringing assets on-chain: Securities will be represented as tokens, with plans for them to be interchangeable with traditional shares and to have the same price and liquidity.
👉 Not entirely on-chain: Initially, tokens will still be issued based on existing securities. This does not mean that every stage of trading and settlement will move to the blockchain.
👉 Settlement remains unchanged for now: Current plans still use the traditional T+2 settlement cycle.
👉 Future goals: Exploring more flexible trading hours and faster asset settlement, though these will require further improvements to the regulatory framework.
Why is this worth watching?
Because asset tokenization is connecting traditional finance with blockchain.
In the past, assets such as stocks and bonds have relied mainly on traditional financial infrastructure. In the future, blockchain could offer a new technological approach to asset registration, transfer, and settlement.
However, the real challenge is not simply turning assets into tokens.
How ownership is established, how trading complies with regulations, and how liquidity is maintained will determine whether tokenization can scale.
From crypto-native assets to traditional securities moving on-chain, changes to financial infrastructure are continuing to unfold.
