Bottom line first: Bitcoin funding rates have diverged. On Binance, shorts pay longs, while on OKX, longs pay shorts. Looking at only one exchange can easily lead you to read the direction incorrectly.
Binance’s latest funding rate is -0.00174%, which annualizes to about -1.9% based on 8-hour settlements, meaning shorts are subsidizing longs; OKX is at +0.00370%, annualizing to about 4.0%, meaning longs are paying shorts. The directions are opposite, so the derivatives market is not making a unified bet.
Where you open the position is the exchange whose fees and open interest changes you should watch. A negative funding rate does not mean price will rise immediately, and a positive funding rate does not mean price will fall immediately.

Would you rather go long now, or wait for this funding rate divergence to narrow?
