⚔️ The $320M long whale just bought the dip, and now a $33M short is bearing down: Hyperliquid is a gladiator arena

Both sides of the same betting table are packed with whales.

A post at 10:50 this morning mentioned a $320 million long whale on Hyperliquid: 1,400 $BTC at an average price of 75,967 + 82,000 $ETH at an average price of 2,493, with $8.77 million in unrealized profit. The trader has made around $116.7 million from longs this year (monitored by Ember @EmberCN).

A few hours later, the shorts struck back (reported by ChainCatcher at 15:46/16:35 this morning, monitored by Hyperbot / Liquid247):

1️⃣ A 391.48 $BTC short, worth $32.36 million, with 13x leverage and an entry price of 82,863.
Cross-margin account, with $7.19 million in account equity and a liquidation price of 99,801. At the time of disclosure, unrealized profit was about $75,500, and around $64,000 had been paid in funding fees. This address made $952,200 in perpetual futures profits over the past week, with a maximum drawdown of around 11%—no rookie.

$BTC is currently at 82,730 (checked live on Kraken this round), still below the 82,863 entry price. The short is still alive for now.

2️⃣ There’s also pressure on $ETH : address 0xecb63c…2b00 holds a short of 10,787 $ETH , with a notional value of $26.907 million. At the time of writing, ETH was quoted at 2,494.30; its current price is 2,491.90 (checked live this round). It, too, is holding near its average entry price.

3️⃣ Three key price levels to keep in mind:
▪️ 82,863 — the 13x short’s entry price, the shorts’ first line of defense
▪️ 85,000 — according to Coinglass data, around $3.3 billion worth of $BTC shorts would be liquidated here; a target for longs looking to squeeze the shorts
▪️ 99,801 — this short whale’s liquidation price, 20.6% above the current price; the short position isn’t fragile

The bottom line: the long whale is betting on the trend (the 75,967 dip-buy is already up 8.9%), while the short whale is betting on price levels (using high leverage to collect funding fees while applying short-term pressure). This short accounts for only about 1% of Hyperliquid’s $BTC open interest (38,040 coins)—not enough to tip the table. But 85,000 is the line between life and death for shorts across the market. Polymarket puts the odds of $BTC reaching 100,000 before the end of 2026 at just 27.5%.

Which side are you on?
A: Side with the $320 million long; watch for a squeeze at 85,000
B: The 13x short can hold it down; don’t count on 90,000 just yet
