Fear of AI hackers and Ethereum’s “bunker mode” $ETH ❗️❗️❗️
Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake publicly urged the crypto industry to prepare for “bunker/shelter mode.” According to him, mathematical algorithms powered by advanced AI could learn to crack private keys using wallet addresses that are already public (and around 6.04 million $BTC are currently at risk).
Vitalik Buterin confirmed that the risks to ECDSA cryptography are real, but urged people not to panic. Samson Mow (head of Jan3), however, harshly mocked Drake, saying that he “says ridiculous things.”
Against this backdrop, quantum- and cryptography-resistant tokens moved against the market: Algorand ($ALGO ) jumped 9% thanks to its use of post-quantum Falcon signatures.
