SAMSUNG WALLET TO SUPPORT USDC TRANSFERS ON SOLANA
Samsung plans to add USDC transfers on Solana to Samsung Wallet in the final week of October for eligible Galaxy users in the US. The feature could reach around 82 million devices, letting users send USDC to compatible external wallets and transfer funds to bank accounts in more than 60 countries.
To me, the key development is that stablecoins are moving closer to familiar payment experiences: users would not need to install a separate crypto app to send money. Actual adoption, however, will depend on eligibility, recipient access and costs on the receiving side. Samsung says it will charge no fee for USDC transfers, though receiving wallets or platforms may still apply fees.
USDC in Wallet will be custodied by Coinbase Prime. The underlying infrastructure involves Solana, Sui and Bastion, a US-licensed stablecoin custodian. If the rollout goes smoothly, this integration could make stablecoins more common in cross-border payments, although the initial reach remains limited to eligible users in the US. Could integrating USDC into a phone wallet make it more practical for everyday payments? If this logic makes sense, drop a follow for more market breakdowns.
