Crypto asset owners using iOS devices are urged to update their operating systems immediately. Google’s Cybersecurity Team, together with Lookout and iVerify, detected a dangerous exploit chain called DarkSword, which hackers are using to stealthily attack iPhones and steal sensitive data.

This malware spreads through a watering hole attack, in which devices can become infected simply by visiting a legitimate website that has been compromised with malicious code. Once inside the system, DarkSword immediately scans the device to identify and steal data from popular crypto wallet apps, including recovery phrases and other important access keys. The malware can also hack text messages, chat apps, and stored passwords.

This attack is known to exploit a security vulnerability in iPhones running iOS versions 18.4 through 18.7. Users are strongly advised to update to the latest iOS version immediately to patch the vulnerability and protect their digital assets from the threat of having their balances drained.
