If you’ve only ever traded futures and are new to airdrops, you can use this approach as a guide.
Experienced users can skip this. The most important thing for beginners to learn isn’t “finding the next project that’ll make you rich,” but first working out the numbers: how much are you willing to spend at most on an uncertain airdrop?
First, make a cost breakdown for a single address.
Divide your budget into four categories: funds used for on-chain interactions, gas fees, cross-chain losses, and funds you may not be able to get back in time. Then set an overall spending limit. Stop whenever any item exceeds its limit—don’t raise it on a whim just because a project has “raised a lot” or “might issue a token.”
Historically, $APT, $ARB, and $OP have indeed delivered substantial rewards to some early participants. But those are cases that have already happened; they don’t mean that repeating the same actions will produce the same results. Airdrop rules may change at short notice, and projects may screen addresses based on funds, activity duration, and interaction quality.
Next, check just three things.
1. Does the project have a real product, and does it work properly on-chain?
2. Does the project have clear official rules for points, tasks, or incentives, rather than relying only on community rumors?
3. After completing the tasks, can you withdraw your funds smoothly and revoke approvals promptly?
You don’t need a lot of tools. A computer with internet access, a phone, a dedicated browser wallet, and a trading account are basically enough. Don’t keep long-term assets in your airdrop wallet, and don’t casually sign approvals you don’t understand. Store your seed phrase offline, and never give it to anyone claiming to be “support.”
To understand how the market performs after an airdrop, you can track the trading volume, changes in circulating supply, and unlock schedules for ARB, OP, and APT. The goal isn’t to buy by copying others, but to understand how selling pressure and liquidity affect the price after tokens are distributed.
Pick one project today and complete a cost sheet for a single address first. Don’t interact with the project until you can clearly assess the risks.
