Why does the same transfer cost so much less on Layer 2?
First, a definition: Rollups are currently the most mainstream Layer 2 approach, and fall into two categories: Optimistic Rollups and ZK Rollups.
The logic behind it: Layer 2 saves money by bundling many transactions together and posting them back to the mainnet, so the mainnet fees are shared among many users.
