Trading Notes | Private Keys and Addresses
① An Ethereum address is derived from the last 20 bytes of the Keccak-256 hash of the public key. When displayed, it starts with 0x followed by 40 hexadecimal characters.
② Bitcoin and Ethereum private keys are essentially 256-bit random numbers, and both use the secp256k1 elliptic curve.
③ Avoid exporting your private key if possible. If you really need to back it up, don’t paste it into an internet-connected note-taking app.
