A little note: I used to pay a lot of attention to the long/short ratio. Whenever I saw that the proportion of long positions was high, I’d follow suit—and got stopped out by a few sudden wicks.
Later, I realized that the long/short ratio shows which side most people are betting on, while the market often moves in the direction with fewer people on it.
Today, the long/short ratio across all accounts is 0.45 for $US , with more people shorting. I’ll just take it as a reminder.
