Trying too hard really takes a huge toll 😑
Yesterday I saw someone say not to watch Alan’s interview with Brother Sun because it was just the same old talking points from start to finish. I didn’t believe them, and wasted 4 hours, 22 minutes, and 29 seconds.
That’s right—I didn’t fast-forward for even a second, and I didn’t leave early. During the opening remarks, I was wondering what they could possibly talk about for so long. Later, I was wondering why I hadn’t listened to the warning.
So maybe I’m holding a grudge, but I now think the “lean muscle theory” is bullshit.
Because at its core, the lean muscle theory is just exaggerated, misleading hype—as if it’s telling you that as long as you build lean muscle, you’ll get first dibs in the dating market and reach the pinnacle of life.
If all it took to succeed was building lean muscle, then the successful people should be Musk, Jack Ma, and so on—not the gym’s Seven, Alan, Jason, Andy, Leo, and the rest.
Looking back at that video, it was basically Alan riding Brother Sun’s coattails for clout, to an absolutely shameless degree, while Brother Sun simply went along with it and used the opportunity to drum up some traffic and publicity for himself.
This was a desecration of Sunology. It shows just how vast the chasm is between knowing and doing—so vast that even Brother Sun himself can’t recreate the person he was when he was younger.
