Came across a press release from Schuman Financial: a group of European digital finance companies has teamed up with Nasdaq-listed eToro to form the Eurøpe Consortium, hoping to make euro stablecoins more useful instead of merely “compliant but unused.”
Around 99% of the stablecoin market is currently still dollar-denominated, with the euro accounting for less than 1%. The consortium is starting with EURØP, the MiCA-compliant euro e-money token issued by Schuman. It’s already live on six chains: Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, Solana, XRP Ledger, and Plasma. Members also include SwissBorg, Coinhouse, Coinmerce, LCX, RockawayX, and XRPL Commons.
Put simply, they’re working together to expand distribution, liquidity, wallet and exchange integrations, and real-world use cases, while each member remains responsible for its own compliance and business decisions. It’s certainly hard for the euro to catch up with the dollar on-chain if everyone goes it alone.
