Ledger Theft Case: Distributor Changes Hands
Malaysia-based distributor CryptoBilis was acquired in March this year. Since August 3, a Heilongjiang native named Jiaming has held 100% of its shares. The Ledger devices involved were alleged to have a built-in module that steals recovery phrases, and stores in Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia have all stopped selling them.
Trust in a hardware wallet can most easily be broken at the distributor level. I won’t touch devices from third-party sellers.
