Can the principal and interest of a yield-bearing asset be sold separately?
The price of YT is essentially a quote for future yield: if the actual yield received before maturity is lower than the yield implied when you bought it, YT holders will lose money.
After maturity, PT can be redeemed for the corresponding denomination asset at a 1:1 ratio. Before maturity, it typically trades at a discount.
