Yesterday’s post disappeared and I got banned again. Luckily, I had one chance to answer a quiz and get unbanned, so I’m posting a little earlier today.
Since my post mentioned where I am, I won’t mention anything outside Binance from now on. I also won’t be able to record any activity outside Binance anymore. You’ll have to find your own investment options too—can’t be helped.
Binance’s own accounts, and the accounts of those news platforms, inevitably mention places outside Binance without triggering the system’s automatic risk controls.
Thanks to Binance’s scale, its chat and Square features are pretty good—at least better than those on other crypto-native platforms. But looking at things now, it feels like it’ll be hard for them to grow much further. Risk-control rules meant to crack down on scammers are basically a one-size-fits-all approach, creating an information bubble. It’s hard to say whether that’s good or bad. Has Binance chosen to protect fools rather than pursue greater growth in these areas? But even the strictest risk controls can’t protect fools; people still get scammed in all sorts of ways. In my view, they’re completely useless.
So back when I held BNB, I used to imagine how things might develop in this area. That vision is gone now. These are just functional improvements within Binance itself, and their influence is limited to Binance. It’s hard to imagine people outside Binance coming over because of Binance Chat or Square. The people who do come for these features now are probably just fed up with how awful things are elsewhere...
The road to social networking is closed off. Payments are still developing, though, so there’s still potential there. I don’t know how that’s going, but I hope they can do a better job.
BNB is still a good coin that always seems worth buying whenever I think about it. Binance is still miles ahead of the competition; it just can’t do everything, and some things always have to be sacrificed or balanced against others.
I found my financial freedom on Binance, so I’m still emotionally invested. I’ve always hoped it would get even better.
