Crypto Morning Brief | October 10
1. Someone (possibly a hacker) just sold 262.78 $ETH for 643K $USDC , then turned around and opened a 40x short on 305.51 $BTC on Hyperliquid.
The notional position is $25.4 million, with a liquidation price of $84,086. That’s some seriously bold leverage.
2. U.S. stocks cracked first. After U.S.-Iran clashes, the Dow posted its worst single-day performance since March, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq both ended their winning streaks.
As risk appetite shrank, $BTC also traded sideways around 82.5K.
3. Another hardware wallet scare. Reports of a Ledger theft surfaced as the market weighed security concerns and tried to recover from Thursday’s drop.
4. Funds are flowing out. $BTC ETFs saw net outflows of 3,412 coins in a single day (-$282.9 million), with 7-day net outflows of 6,747 coins.
$ETH ETFs saw net outflows of 38,576 coins in a single day (-$96.2 million), with 7-day outflows of 206,000 coins.
5. Asia is opening the other way. Thailand’s SEC approved Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, with the rules taking effect on October 16.
They must be passive, locally custodied, and listed on the SET.
6. Memory chip stocks broadly fell before the market opened, with Samsung and SK Hynix briefly dragging South Korea’s Kospi into a technical bear market.
Risk sentiment in tech stocks and crypto is tied to the same rope.
The key level to watch is the $84,086 liquidation price. If BTC takes another step higher, we’ll see how that 40x short plays out.
