Some Bitcoin addresses start with bc1p, while others start with bc1q. What's the difference?
My understanding is that when you spend, only the conditions actually used are revealed, so less data needs to be written to the block and the fee is correspondingly lower.
Schnorr signatures can aggregate multiple public keys into one, so an address controlled jointly by multiple people looks on-chain no different from one using a single signature.
My current practice: Before sending funds to an address starting with bc1p, I check whether my wallet or platform supports Taproot addresses.
$BTC 's Taproot address starts with bc1p, unlike SegWit addresses that start with bc1q.
