UNICHain UPGRADES TO OP ENTERPRISE TO ENABLE NATIVE INTEROPERABILITY WITH OP STACK.
🤝 Unichain, the layer 2 network developed by Uniswap, announced its migration to OP Enterprise to enable native interoperability with other networks built on OP Stack, Optimism’s infrastructure.
The upgrade has two scheduled dates: testnet migration will begin on October 13, and mainnet migration is scheduled for October 29, 2026.
The change will allow assets to be transferred between Unichain and other OP Stack-compatible chains without relying on external bridges. Interoperability will begin with ETH and expand as new capabilities are added.
Optimism will be responsible for technical operations, including sequencers, RPC services, monitoring, and incident response.
The migration does not require changes to smart contracts, balances, the network identifier, or existing applications. In addition, Uniswap versions v2, v3, and v4 will continue to work without changes.
Unichain will also retain its classification as a Stage 1 rollup, with fault proofs open to any participant and contract upgrades overseen by Optimism Governance and its Security Council.
The upgrade aims to simplify asset transfers between networks in the OP Stack ecosystem, with ETH as the first asset planned for this native interoperability.
