$BTC : The US Moved $1B in Bitcoin. Was It Actually Sold? On October 8, 2026, a US government-linked wallet transferred 12,267 #BTC , worth approximately $1.01 billion, according to Arkham data reported by CoinDesk and Decrypt. The funds were linked to the 2016 Bitfinex hack seizure. The reported destinations were new, unlabeled addresses, with no confirmed exchange deposit for this transfer. That establishes movement. It does not establish a sale. Separate government-linked transfers reached Coinbase Prime around the same period. But Coinbase Prime provides both custody and trading services to the US Marshals Service. A deposit alone cannot tell us which service is being used. What about the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve? The March 2025 executive order prohibits selling $BTC deposited into the reserve. However, it also allows certain court-ordered distributions and returns to crime victims. Seized #Bitcoin is not automatically reserve Bitcoin. My take: neither “Washington is dumping” nor “Washington is accumulating” is supported by this transfer alone. Custody changes or preparations for restitution remain possible explanations, not confirmed facts. The next meaningful evidence would be identified destination wallets, official clarification, or confirmation of an actual sale. A $1B wallet movement deserves attention. Calling it $1B in selling pressure requires more evidence. #BTC Price Analysis#
